Frankie’s Kids for Kids
The team at Frankie’s on the Park believes strongly in the importance of businesses giving back generously to the community and is committed to offering opportunities for our customers to be involved in these philanthropic activities. We believe that the earlier pre-teens and teens get involved in a meaningful way in charitable activities, the more it becomes a part of a life-long commitment to helping others. These kids have so much to give – we just have to offer them opportunities to participate in a meaningful way!
Concurrent with our grand opening in August of 2008, we launched “Frankie’s Kids for Kids”, a year-long series of events supporting charitable organizations doing important work on behalf of kids in the greater Chicagoland area. We have had so much fun working with the following organizations and the Frankie’s kids and parents that have supported these events have been nothing short of AWESOME!!!
Frankie’s on the Park Grand Opening Party
On Friday, September 5th, we hosted 200+ friends in celebrating the opening of Frankie’s on the Park! At the party, kids designed and made custom baseball caps for children with cancer at University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital. We also donated a percentage of our sales during the party to Comer, in support of our year-long commitment to “Frankie’s Kids for Kids!”
Children’s Memorial Hospital Medical Research Institute Council (MRIC) Shopping Day
On September 20, 2008, Frankie’s on the Park opened its doors to friends of Children’s Memorial for a day of shopping and family photography in support of the 2008 MRIC ball, “Seasons of Discovery.” 10% of proceeds from the day were donated to Children’s Memorial MRIC – the turnout was great and the family photos were fantastic!
Thanksgiving Party at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital
On Monday, November 24th, Frankie’s on the Park joined with actress Joan Cusack to bring a special Thanksgiving treat to patients at Comer Children’s Hospital. Patients and their families packed the hospital playroom for a private viewing of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and were personally entertained by one of the movie’s stars, Joan Cusack. The kids had the best time and were awestruck to see Joan on screen and in-person at the same time! We were so happy to help bring joy to these terrific kids during the holiday season!
Holiday Dress Event at La Rabida Children’s Hospital
La Rabida Children’s Hospital is a specialty children’s hospital on the south side of Chicago, serving kids with long term chronic medical conditions. We continued our tradition of personal shopping with the kids at La Rabida – 20+ boys and girls at La Rabida were invited for a one-one-one shopping experience with Frankie’s stylists (members of our team and teens that shop at our store!) to pick out a special dress for the holidays (girls) or a jersey from their favorite sports team (boys). Everybody had a great time and the teen volunteers were unbelievable with the kids!
American Heart Association “Have a Heart on Clark” Mother Daughter Valentines Party
As part of a neighborhood campaign to raise money in support of the American Heart Association, Frankie’s on the Park hosted a mother -daughter Valentine’s Day Brunch, complete with a photo shoot, goody bags, raffle and, of course, SHOPPING!! A percentage of the days proceeds were donated to women’s heart programs at the American Heart Association, teaching teen girls the importance of staying heart healthy!
Chicago Bears’ Cornerback Charles “Peanut” Tillman In-Store Autograph Signing
Frankie’s on the Park was thrilled to host Chicago Bears cornerback Charles “Peanut” Tillman, his wife Jackie and their Cornerstone Foundation for a morning of x-box football and autographs at Frankie’s on the Park. Drawing from their own personal experience with a critically ill child, the Tillmans started the Cornerstone Foundation to provide support services for children and their families dealing with medical crises. We had a house full of kids lined up for photos, autographs and the chance to battle Peanut in a game of football on our in-store x-box games. During the event, we hosted kids from Children’s Memorial for autographs and shopping (on us!). We were thrilled to be able to make a significant contribution to the Cornerstone Foundation in support of the phenomenal work they are doing on behalf of thousands of sick children throughout the Chicagoland area. Thank you Peanut and Jackie!
